COACHES & PA's
“The coach is the key figure in making sure that the spirit of the sport is ‘friendship first, competition second’.”
All of our coaches are professionally certified. Please check our records in the Music Room at Cataraqui Arena for a more detailed resume from each coach. Program Assistants (PA's) also play an important part in our CanSkate program & contribute greatly to program success. These dedicated volunteers are Intermediate & Senior skaters from our STARSkate program, & are trained to assist our club coaches during our CanSkate sessions.

COACHES CODE

•Be reasonable in your demands on young skaters’ time, energy & enthusiasm.
•Remember that they have other interests.
•Teach your skaters that the rules of the sport are mutual agreements, which no one should evade or break.
•Live by the “Code of Ethics”.
•Avoid favouring the talented skater. The average skater needs & deserves equal time.
•Remember that children skate for fun & enjoyment & that winning is only a part of it.

•Never ridicule or yell at skaters for making a mistake or losing a competition.
•Develop respect for the ability of fellow competitors, as well as for the judgment of officials.
•Never compare one skater to another.
•Remember that children need a coach that they can respect. Be generous with your praise when it's deserved. Set a good example. Take time to listen to your skaters.
•Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed.
•Cooperate with & respect the executive & parents.
